About UM-EWB
The University of Miami chapter of Engineers Without Borders (UM-EWB) is a non-profit humanitarian organization aimed at finding sustainable, economically sound solutions to improve the quality of life in different communities across international borders. UM-EWB was formed in 2008, as a student chapter of the national EWB-USA and works on both local and international projects chosen and developed by University of Miami students.
These projects seek to improve living conditions through both the implementation of engineering systems as well as education on technical and managerial skills to ensure their long-term success. The ultimate goal in each of these projects is to make certain that the changes made can be maintained by the local populations, independent of further intervention or aid. The University of Miami chapter of Engineers Without Borders is currently working on projects located in Peru, the Dominican Republic, Miami Beach, and the University of Miami Wellness Center.
Students from all areas of study are needed, and are welcome to join.
